VOLUNTEERS

  --
Planning can be fun: Checking out the room for Adult Roundtables at Glen Eyrie's Castle... yes, this will work very well for discussions as well as casual conversation!

PG Retreat is a very unusual organization. We have only recently become an official non-profit organization, but what we really are is a community of families, with committed parents who give generously of their time and energy to create something very special not only for their own children, but for all of us.

Everyone who organizes and contributes to PG Retreat in any way does so as a volunteer. People make the time to pitch in because PG Retreat is that important to them (read our Testimonials to learn why). We need every family to contribute time and effort to make PG Retreat the highlight of each family's summer.

Volunteering is an opportunity, not just a responsibility. By contributing your talents to our group and our gathering, you'll become an integral part of the community and your efforts will come back to you many times over. Those who benefit from PG Retreat the most seem to be those who have found a way to help make it the unique experience it truly is.

Volunteering leads to some beautiful friendships!

What kind of volunteer help is needed? All kinds of things. A small team of volunteer organizers is busy working on plans for PG Retreat 2008, and your input would be appreciated. Can you help lead a class or activity for kids at PG Retreat 2008? Do you have ideas about speakers or programs for adults you'd like us to consider? Can you bring games or toys for our Gathering Space at the next retreat? If you would like to assist in one of these areas, or in any other way, please contact Conference Organizer Tim Oliver at contact@pgretreat.com.

Parents also help maintain the PG Retreat community throughout the year. Volunteers serve on our Board of Directors, helping to shape PG Retreat into a strong organization for now and the future. Volunteers moderate our mailing lists (separate ones for parents, kids, and teens). Volunteers maintain this Web site.

At the Retreat, we need everyone to chip in to help all the activities flow smoothly. Parents take turns monitoring the Gathering Space, a place where both parents and kids can come and go freely for conversation, games, snacks, and other activities. Parents are needed to help monitor the Teen Room and the Media Room. Parents are needed to help carry in supplies and set up rooms. And we all belong to a Village that watches over all our children at the Retreat.

Come, participate, and reap the many benefits of PG Retreat for your family. And please share your special talents, your time, and your energy so that PG Retreat will be an experience you'll never forget, one that will keep you coming back year after year.
